Norfolk Broads

Summer Holiday - 196?

'All Aboard the Skylark'
L-R: Mike, Pete, Derrick, Tony, Paul The 'lads' decided to holiday together to the Norfolk Broads, the basic premise was - see the Broads, Pie & Pint for Lunch, take turns for Skipper, end up at Norwich & not sink the boat.

Who thought it would be a good idea to make the journey after midnight?

Some went to a concert at the Town Hall [???] and the rest of us met at Wayne's bed sit. Tony's Mini-van & Paul's ?Spitfire? were selected as Transport. The journey was eventful, to say the least, with the Mini-van occupants surviving a late scare, when Tony drifted off into dreamland.

'Ahoy there'
L-R: Derek, Wayne, PaulWe eventually pitched up at a boatyard in Wroxham, where after a brief [yes brief] run through, we were cast off into the Broads. I still firmly believe the boat was called "Lincoln County II" but others may disagree. The Intinerary was a cruise through the Broads, stopping at various points of interest.

We finished up in Norwich for the last night, where a Chinese meal for six was enjoyed by all, drinks in a pub and the removal of a Roadworks lantern caused much heated 'discussion' amongst the crew!

"Shoe Overboard" We were sailing out of Norwich when it was realised that the tide was in, and the Bridge we had sailed under comfortably was now significantly lower. Much panic and effort saw the top deck slid back with time to spare, unfortunately anything nestling down the sides was cast overboard, oops. Sorry Pete!
